Public Works Minister Deligne Ascención announced the start of reconstruction works on the road from Piedra Blanca to Maimón in the province of Monseñor Nouel and Cotuí in the province of Sánchez Ramírez.
Ascención said the effort will find a definite solution to the critical point of Loma Mala, that is affected by the flooding waters of the Maimón River.
The road is 27 km long and starts at the intersection of Duarte Highway with Piedra Blanca. It ends in the municipality of Cotuí.
The government has budgeted RD$631 million for the road.
Ascención said the Ministry of Public Works will also pave the streets in Maimón and Piedra Blanca, and build sidewalks and drainage solutions.
