Farm production is up, says Agriculture Minister

Agriculture Minister Limber Cruz says the country is planted and the crops are reaching the markets. He says the new Agriculture Cabinet is coordinating all the government entities that deal with farm issues. The Abinader administration has made available RD$5 billion for farming at soft rates or zero interest, as reported in El Caribe newspaper.

He highlighted the government has worked on backing farmers to clear their land for planting, soft loans, distribution of seeds and ensuring access to irrigation waters. The government is also helping with distribution channels, activating the National Institute for Price Stabilization (Inespre). He said the government is backing farm exports, food safety, and improvement of rural roads, and farm education and research programs.
