President promises RD$2.6 billion in public works for Dajabón on the border with Haiti

President Luis Abinader visited the northwestern province of Dajabón on Saturday, 11 September 2021 and promised the government will invest RD$2.6 billion in projects. The President and cabinet members met with 110 representatives of neighborhood councils to listen to the priorities of the province that is on the border with Haiti.

The government committed to complete the Dajabón public hospital by November 2022. It also committed to constructing and repairing many of the main roads in the province, including sidewalks. The investment in public works also encompasses potable water and sewage projects, and a 200-unit housing project. The government also promised the Integral Attention Centers for Early Childhood (CAIPI) in La Bomba would be completed.

He also referred to the Manzanillo port project, the most important to be built in nearby Montecristi province. The Interamerican Development Bank (IDB) has approved a US$100 million loan for the port.
