
Frontier and Spirit announce they will be merging their operations soon. This merge would create the fifth largest airline in the United States. Both Frontier and Spirit serve the Dominican Republic. Frontier has gained thousands of followers because it connects many cities that before had not had direct flights. Both Frontier and Spirit are low-cost carriers that charge passengers for bringing carry-ons and checked luggage.

Frontier assengers can pay around US$40 to bring a carryon or first checked luggage.
Monika Infante, CEO of Aerodom (Vinci Airports), told Diario Libre of the plan to make Las Americas International the home base for Arajet, a new ultra low-cost carrier that would serve traffic from the United States to the Dominican Republic. The airline would fly five new Boeing 737 Max 8 in its first year. “We trust this project will considerably improve the travel offer for the Dominican citizen,” observed Infante in the Diario Libre interview.
