President Ivan Duque of Colombia expected

President Luis Abinader is hosting President Ivan Duque of Colombia at the Presidential Palace. President Duque is scheduled to arrive on Thursday, 28 April 2022 from Colombia for a two day visit. He is scheduled to leave on Friday. Duque’s visit comes at a time when trips to Colombia from the Dominican Republic are the “in” thing to do now that fares are at all time lows.

Duque’s visit is preceded by that of a US Drug Enforcement Administration high level visit. Denise Foster, the head of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) of the United States for the Caribbean region, arrived on Wednesday, 26 April 2022 for a series of high-level meetings with Dominican government officers.

President Duque is scheduled to sign agreements and decorations will be shared. A press conference is on the program and reading of a joint declaration.

On Duque’s agenda is a private meeting with President Abinader. He will also attend a lunch with the participation of delegations from both countries at the Green Room of the Presidential Palace. He is also scheduled to visit the National Congress for meetings with the presidents of the Senate and Chamber of Deputies and then with the plenary of Congress.

President Duque is scheduled to arrive to Las Americas International Airport in Santo Domingo where Foreign Minister Roberto Alvarez will receive him, accompanied by the ambassador of Colombia in the DR, Daniel Cabrales; the ambassador of the Dominican Republic in Colombia, Julio Cordero and director of protocol, Francisco Cantizano Nadal.
