Dominicans did well in the 11th International Meet held in Savona, Italy on 18 May 2022.
Dominican track star, Marileidy Paulino clocked in 22.59, a personal best in the 200m. Paulino is a silver medallist from Tokyo Olympic Games in the 400m.
In the 400m, her teammate, Fiordaliza Cofil won the event in 51.36. In the recent Felix Sanchez Invitational held in Monte Plata, the week previous to the Italian competition, Cofil had set a personal best of 51.11 in the 400m and 22.07 in the 200m. Marileidy Paulino has the meet record with 50.71 set in the competition in 2021.
Other Dominicans that did well in the track meet were Ana Lucia Tima with a second in triple jump (14.46) and Yancarlos Martínez, who clockd 20.66 to be second in the men’s 200m run.
The Dominican team is next scheduled to compete in the Campeonato Iberoamericano de Atletismo in Spain on 20 and 21 May 2022.
