
President Luis Abinader announced the construction of a new cruiseship port in Samaná.
The announcement was made when the country was named host of the 28th Annual Conference of the Florida Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) from 12 to 14 October 2022.
This is the second time that the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association Conference is held in the Dominican Republic. The event is the largest cruise conference and trade show in the Caribbean, Mexico, Central and South America. More than 60 cruise executives, including presidents and directors, top government leaders represent more than 40 countries. Around 500 delegates come from all over the world.
Minister of Tourism David Collado says just in May, 82,199 passengers on board 10 different cruise lines. Over the past 12 months, more than 754,760 cruise passengers have docked at the four Dominican ports – Amber Cove and Taino Bay in Puerto Plata; Casa de Campo in La Romana and Sans Souci in Santo Domingo.
