President Luis Abinader received the visit of Laura Jimenez, a Dominican-American who is today the senior advisor of the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs at the US Department of State. US President Joe Biden appointed her in January 2021. Jimenez paid a courtesy visit to President Abinader.
To visit President Abinader, she was accompanied by her father, journalist Cristhian Jimenez and US Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Robert Thomas.
Born in the Dominican Republic Jimenez was raised in the Bronx, New York. As reported by the Presidency, President Abinader and Jimenez talked about the Dominican diaspora in the United States, the progress of women and young people there.
