Public and private entities come to the aid of victims of Fiona

As the damage reports began to appear, several important entities have announced their monetary assistance to those persons affected by Hurricane Fiona that hit the eastern side of the Dominican Republic on Monday, 19 September 2022. The government’s Banco de Reservas announced it will disburse RD$100 million through the Banreservas Volunteers. The funds would cover donations of medicines, food, construction materials, home repairs and other necessities.

The Banreservas Volunteers were reported distributing construction materials in the Miches area, where the government commercial bank has provided millions in loans for the construction of resorts.

Businessman Juan Bautista Vicini Lluberes, possibly the wealthiest person in the country, announced a donation of RD$50 million to be purchased to Ochoa Hardware stores.

So far, newspaper reports of donations of over RD$246 million have been reported.
