Updates on the Villa Isabela triple crime

More updates are coming in as the Police investigates the murder of three senior adults at a farm ranch in Villa Isabela in western Puerto Plata. The lead suspect is a Haitian farm worker.

Listin Diario reports that the Police is looking for a Haitian identified as 37-year old Alfonso Fiseme, alias “Blanco” or “Blanqué”, employed to milk cows at the farm. He had just two weeks on the job.

He is accused of the murder of the Rancho Josefina farm owner, 71-year old Juan Jose Soto Corniel, uncle of former Armed Forces Minister Jose Miguel Soto Jimenez. Also murdered were the farm ranch overseer, 68-year old Gilberto Basilio Toribio and 63-year old architect Maritza Ovalles Ureña, a personal friend who was at the farm to help with the farm renovations. The Police say that Fiseme is armed and very dangerous. The police report suspect that Blanco stole a firearm from the farm, as a search revealed this was missing.

The triple crime occurred on Sunday, 2 October 2022 in the morning. He killed his victims using a machete. Maritza Ovalles was decapitated.

The motive that triggered these bloody crimes that ended the lives of the three Dominican citizens is still unclear.

For investigation purposes, the authorities arrested the wife of the accused of the triple murder, a woman also of Haitian nationality.
