
A major fire at the Cesar Nicolas Penson Avenue power substation affected electricity service for around 48 neighborhoods in the National District. The substation is under the EdeEste power distribution company. Yet, Edesur, the power distribution company that supplies most of the capital city says that while the fire happened in Gazcue, that is under EdeEste, it also caused power outages in several National District neighborhoods.
The list of neighborhood circuits where power was cut is long:
Metropolitano, Embajador, UASD, Los Prados, Enlace del Anillo 138, Naco, Zona Universitaria, La Esperilla, Av. Independencia, Los Prados, Piantini, Herrera, Bella Vista, La Julia, Haina.
Also, Carr. Sánchez Km 12, Presidente Antonio Guzmán, San Martin, Los Químicos, El Café, Villas del Café I y II, Las Casas de Canaán, Villas del Café IV y V, Colinas de Canaán, Loma del Chivo, Paraíso, C/ Dolly, Loma del Chivo, C/ Respaldo Principal, C/ 2da, C/ 18, C/ Resp. 20, Callejón Arelis de la Flor del Café, Residencial José Contreras, Atlántida, Urbanización AESA, 16 de Agosto, El Pedregal, Luz Consuelo Norte, Residencial Villas Praderas Verdes, Residencial Ana Karina.
In many of the above, service has already been reinstated.
EdeEste says it is investigating the cause of the fire.
