In its second year in government, the Abinader administration added 90,721 government workers, for a 14% increase. The central government payroll went from 630,727 to 721,448 from August 2021 to August 2022, as reported in Diario Libre.
Dominican governments are characterized by wasteful spending in regards to political patronage in hiring.
