The National Statistics Office (ONE) told reporters that the census count will continue in the province of Santiago, particularly in the urban center of Santiago de los Caballeros where entire barrios and residential areas have yet to be counted.
Most recently there were protests by around 100 area coordinators over delays in payment of wages of the census poll takers. Spokesman for the ONE, Victor Romero attributes the delays in part to the time-consuming task of setting up bank accounts for this personnel at the Banco de Reservas where all government employees receive their wages.
The overall count for the 10th National Housing and Population Census is expected to conclude on 22 December 2022
