Fines apply to those who did not get their circulation stickers in time

At deadline on 29 January 2023, there still were about 300,000 motor vehicles that had not paid the 2023 Circulation Tax. The windshield sticker (marbete) is needed to circulate on Dominican roads. Those who do not have the 2023 sticker are subject to fines.

As of Friday, 27 January, the DGII had sold 1,369,216 stickers for 1,684,837 vehicles that need to renew these. The government collected RD$2.26 billion of the RD$2.73 billion it expects to receive for this chapter.

For cars over 5 years old, the tax is RD$1,500, and for the newer vehicles the tax is RD$3,000. So far, some 1.3 million persons have paid the Circulation Tax and have affixed the “marbete” to their windscreen.

As of Tuesday, 31 January 2023, vehicle owners need to go to an office of the Tax Agency offices (DGII) to pay the fine and get the sticker or they risk getting their vehicles towed by Digesett transit agents.
