Agrifood Fair 2023 set for 31 May to 3 June

The Dominican Republic Export and Investment Center (ProDominicana) and the Dominican Agribusiness Board (JAD) announced the eighth edition of the Agrifood Fair 2023. The event showcases food products, agricultural, tobacco and beverage sectors of the Dominican Republic.

Agroalimentaria 2023 will be held from 31 May to 3 June 2023 at the Dominican Fiesta & Casino Hotel, Santo Domingo. More than 150 buyers are expected to participate in the event.

Agroalimentaria 2023 is organized through a joint effort with with the Ministry of Foreign Relations and missions abroad. Buyers from more than 35 countries are expected to participate.

In this fair the public and private sectors work under a strategic vision in the search for international buyers and promotion of the exportable supply.

The executive director of Pro Dominicana Biviana Riveiro Disla says: “We are committed to continue promoting exports through the Dominican agricultural sector and its promotion in the main international markets.” Riveiro stressed that at this event buyers will have the opportunity to establish contacts with producers and exporters of fresh and processed foods, tobacco and beverages of the highest quality.

“Agroalimentaria has positioned itself as the most important business meeting of the agricultural and agro-industrial sector in the Dominican Republic and the Caribbean region, contributing to creating jobs and foreign exchange,” said Osmar C. Benítez, executive president of the Dominican Agribusiness Board (JAD).

He also added that the fair is the best scenario for importers and distributors from different international markets to come into direct contact with hundreds of Dominican producers in a position to export.

The 2019 Agroalimentaria featured 165 international buyers, 2,292 business appointments and resulted in US$295 million in projected sales.

The organizers are optimistic there will be a marked diversity of local exhibitors and international buyers, in terms of quantity of exportable supply and market demand, and the 2023 agrifood fair will exceed previous seven editions.

Among the collateral activities of the fair are the business rounds and technical conferences that seek to update participants on key issues for their economic activity. The Tobacco and Rum Hall will feature internationally renowned Dominican premium cigars and the best Dominican rum brands. In addition, the fair will include a Gastronomic Festival with the participation of Dominican chefs.
