This Sunday, 5 March 2023 the best of carnival nationwide will be parading along the sea-fronting Malecon in Santo Domingo. The National Carnival Parade will be starting on the stretch nearest to the Colonial City going west until Abraham Lincoln Avenue. The city government announced that in preparation for the carnival, the Malecon and part of the Avenida del Puerto, will be shut down to traffic starting Saturday evening.
The road stretch that will remain closed is between the floating bridge and Abraham Lincoln Avenue, from 8pm on Saturday night until 6am on Monday, 6 March. During this time, only pedestrian access will be allowed.
