Bret douses parts of Dominican Republic

The second named tropical cyclone of the 2023 hurricane season, Bret, passed well to the south of the Dominican Republic. Some of the provinces that were under advisories issued by the Center for Emergency Operations (COE), were blessed with rains showers, but no damages or incidents have been reported. Bret did bring breezes that slightly cooled off the excrutiating heat and humidity that has been enveloping the country and its skies.

In fact, Bret is no longer seen on the advisories issued by the National Hurricane Center in Miami. It has suffered what is called “wind shear” and no longer is considered to be a tropical storm.

Cindy, the third named tropical cyclone, also has fizzled out. Cindy in turn passed well to the north of the country.

The Weather Office (Onamet) said its effects were apparent in the large swells along the North Coast.

The next names on the list of this year’s tropical cyclones are Don and Emily. Apparently, conditions in the eastern portion of the Atlantic are fairly positive for more storm formations.

The early start of Bret is a call for preventive actions to be in place and to monitor the storms and follow the acute forecasts of the Weather Office (Onamet) and MikeFisher for DR1.
