The National Investigations Department (DNI) arrested Dutch fugitive 42-year old Wilson Jofende, alias “Alfaisi” as he attempted to travel from the Dominican Republic to Jamaica. He was traveling with a fake passport. Alfaisi was actively sought by European and Latin American law enforcement agencies for his alleged links to the trafficking of more than 3,000 kilos of cocaine to The Netherlands.
Alfaisi instead was escorted by DNI to board a private plane where he was transported to a Dutch island. The capture is part of a series of international fugitives who have been living in the DR and now are being deported. It is in line with what President Luis Abinader commented in an interview with the Corripio Communications Group last week when he said he wanted to leave the government leaving the country free of international mafiosi.
