Social media has been covering the claim released by Argentinian intelligent traffic light businessman Carlos Ariel Zabala that the winner of the US$26 million Intrant contest to install the systems in Santo Domingo and nationwide is a recent former employee of Intrant. Zabala denounces the new company does not have a track record of successful previous experience with selling the systems to have been awarded the contract, nor did the company meet the tender conditions.
Shortly before Zabala went public with the charges against the Intrant contracting, social media program host Aquiles Jimenez had denounced Carlos Zabala as part of an Argentinian criminal network. Zabala rebounded going public and telling about alleged irregularities in the newly-signed Intrant contract.
La Quinta Pata social media hosts explained details of the irregularities in the contract approved for Intrant.
Traditional media has yet to cover the charges Carlos Zabala has made of the irregularities in the new contract.
Hugo Beras, director of Intrant has rebounded, yet instead of defending the contract, he says he is being blackmailed. “There is talk of the mafia in the Intrant, and we have to look at who is doing the talking about the mafia here,” he has stated.
Carlos Ariel Zabala, representative of the traffic control and traffic light company IControlt, has denounced that the National Institute of Traffic and Land Transportation (Intrant) organized a fraudulent tender, in which companies with experience were excluded. Instead, the contract for intelligent traffic light system for US$26 million was awarded to a seven-month old company. Zabala has said the new company is taking credit for much of the work already carried out by CMI Consortium, of which Icontrolt was part.
He also denounced that the previous contract, won in 2019, worth $23 million, was annulled by the Purchasing and Contracting Agency without justification and that the government still owes him money. He said he has appealed to the Department of Ethics, the Superior Administrative Court with no results.
Hugo Beras of Intrant called a press conference and used the event to accuse Zabala of past corruption. He said he will press charges on irregularities in past operations carried out by Zabala with the government.
During the presentation to the press, Beras did not address the charges of irregularities in the recently awarded intelligent traffic light contract.
