The Gigantes del Cibao based in San Francisco de Macoris won the regular season of the Dominican Professional Winter Baseball Championship. But sportswriters understand the tournament’s second stage will be a battle between the capital city teams – the Escogido Lions and the Licey Tigers. The round-robin starts Wednesday, 27 December 2023.
The Tigres del Licey, with 25 wins and 25 losses in the regular series, were the last to make the top four slots for the round-robin. They will be home club in the match against the Gigantes del Cibao (29-20) at the Julian Javier Stadium on 27 December. The game begins at 7:30pm.
In Santo Domingo on the same 27 December, the Leones del Escogido (third place in the regular series with 26-24) will go against the second place-winning Estrellas Orientales (29-26) at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal ballpark starting at 7pm.
