It had seemed it would be Estrellas vs Licey, but after consecutive wins, the Escogido and Gigantes are hanging in and threatening to be one of the playoff teams.
With four games to go (on 17 and 18 January), the Leones are tied with the Licey in second place. The Licey has lost its past four games to the chagrin of its many fans. The last score was 8-1 game at the Quisqueya Ballpark. The Escogido has won three straight games.
The Estrellas needed but one game to grab a playoff slot but the Gigantes did not allow them to do so. It was announced that Estrellas’ star player Vladimir Guerrero Jr will not play in the playoffs, if the team makes the final cut.
The Escogido plays the Gigantes and the Estrellas play against the Licey tonight.
