Former Minister of Tourism Francisco Javier Garcia is on the campaign trail for Domingo Contreras. Contreras who is running for mayor of the National District, the capital city of Santo Domingo. García has been the presidential campaign manager for Danilo Medina and Leonel Fernandez.
Garcia called Contreras a city government expert with some of the country’s most extensive knowledge on how to run a city. “I am convinced that comrade Domingo Contreras will decisively win the elections on the 18th, so that the National District will have the luxury of having such a mayor,” he expressed.
García said that the capital city the country cannot continue improvising with “cosmetic” actions. He said major measures are needed to face crucial issues like storm drainage. The city of Santo Domingo was affected by major flooding in November 2022 and November 2023.
He expressed his conviction that Domingo Contreras will contribute to solving this problem and others that have affected daily life in the National District for years.
