Samuel Sena, speaking for the Santo Domingo Economic and Social Council (CODESSD), announced the congressional candidate debates will resume on Wednesday, 13 March 2024, to give time to work out transmission details. Sena also said they do not want to compete with the transmission of the Soberano Awards, that is scheduled for next 13 March.
The CODESSD accomplished the feat of gathering the candidates for Senate for the National District, and those for deputy of the #1 constituency of the capital city, with much success. The candidates are competing in the 19 May 2024 presidential and congressional elections. More than 8 million Dominicans are eligible to vote in the elections.
The success of the legislative candidate debates opens the doors for a possible first time presidential debate.
