Why didn’t Ariel Henry land in DR?

Diario Libre shares details of what went on as the Gulfstream jet with Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry on board flew from New Jersey to the Caribbean, and eventually landed in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

A separate editorial in the newspaper explains the implications for the DR if Henry was accepted here indefinitely.

Meanwhile, Diario Libre managing editor Benjamin Morales of Diario Libre writes:

“Ariel Henry refuses to understand the messages sent to him from various directions, including his own country, where armed gangs have threatened to forcibly end his mandate as prime minister of Haiti, which is not recognized by the majority of the people.

“Everything indicates that an agreement between the leader Jean Charles Moïse and the former rebel and ex-convict for drug trafficking in the United States, Guy Philippe, has gained ground. The pact would leave out Henry and create a triumvirate composed of Judge Durin Duret Junior (president), and Philippe and Françoise Saint-Vil Villier as members. Their task would be to lead an 18-month transition towards an election process, while pacifying the country.”

Guy Philippe, a former chief of the Police in Cap Haitien, was recently deported to Haiti from the United States.
