Van Gogh Experience in Santo Domingo

Santo Domingo is a city of events. Coming next is the international exhibit of the Van Gogh Experience, an opportunity to step into the works of Dutch master painter Vincent Van Gogh.

Since 2017, the Van Gogh Immersive Experience has been shown in cities around the world. The experience now opens in Santo Domingo at the grounds of the Plaza de la Cultura. Admission is RD$600. The exhibition opens on Friday, 5 April 2024. Tickets are available at the site and online at Uepa Tickets.

The Van Gogh Experience is a way to explore the life of one of the greatest artists of all time through the immersive 360º digital art exhibition. Using state-of-the-art technology, visitors can get up close to recreations of Van Gogh’s work, step into a virtual reality interactive of his bedroom and discover the inspiration behind eight of his iconic works.

The Van Gogh Immersive Experience is a mix of information boards and videos that bring alive for the general public the life and paintings of the outstanding Dutch painter. Van Gogh was born on 30 March 1853 in Zundert, Netherlands and died when he was 37 years old Auvers-sur-Oise, near Paris in France on 29 July 1890.

The exhibition is a series of animated paintings projected onto the walls and floors of the exhibition halls. The digital show features projection mapping, sound effects and music. Those attending find themselves surrounded from floor to ceiling with Van Gogh’s Post-Impressionist masterpieces.

Dominican audiences in 2022 had a similar experience when the Ivan Tovar Experience took plaza at the Plaza de España in the Colonial City when it opened in April of that year.
