Marileidy Paulino, world champion in the 400m, won the race in the first Diamond League meet of 2024 held in Xiamen, China. Paulino is in training for the Paris Olympics. She is a strong contender for the Olympic gold.
At the race in China, Paulino clocked in at 50.08, defeating Natalia Kaczmarek (50.29) from Poland, Britton Wilson (51.26) from the United States and Sada Williams from Barbados (51.97) in the race that took place in an Olympic year. The race has a US$10,000 cash prize.
