FIACI contemporary art showing in Santo Domingo and Santiago

Contemporary art is inspiring and promises to surprise. The First International Contemporary Art Fair is happening now in Santo Domingo and Santiago. Exhibitions are at the Museum of Modern Art (Plaza de la Cultura), BanReservas Cultural Center (Colonial City), ASR Galería (Arte San Ramón) in Santo Domingo and the Centro Leon in Santiago. The invite is to “come listen with your eyes.”

Santo Domingo and Santiago are hosting multiple contemporary art exhibitions with hundreds of local artists and special guest artists from abroad participating in the First International Contemporary Art Fair.

The FIACI activity at Bellas Artes Art Gallery is from 1 to 12 May. Others continue through June.

The venues and dates are:
19 April 19 – 19 May: Centro Cultural Banreservas (Calle Isabel La Católica, Colonial City)
26 April – 25 May: ASR Galería (Ave Lincoln, Piantini)
18 April – 30 May: Centro León (Santiago de los Caballeros)

1 May – 12 May: Galería Nacional de Bellas Artes
3 May – 18 June: Museo de Arte Moderno (Plaza de la Cultura, Gascue)

Artists have come from Argentina, Bolivia, Panama, Spain, Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Italy, Puerto Rico, Turkey, Uruguay, Panama, the United States, India, Italy and South Korea.

The exhibitions feature well-established artists such as Fernando Varela, who has a major exhibition on the first floor of the Museum of Modern Art, and newcomers such as exponents of digital art.

FIACI brings together critics, experts and curators of international art. It is an opportunity for local artists, cultural centers, and galleries that will exhibit more than 400 works of art including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, installations, performance, video art, eco-conscious and new digital only NFT (Non-fungible token art).

The FIACI team is made up of Luz Botero, CEO; Carol Félix, general director in the Dominican Republic; Orlando Isaac, local advisor; curators: Orlando Isaac, Gia Caro de Haché, José María Díaz-Maroto and Camilo Chico.

The promoters highlight: “Art FIACI is a contemporary art fair, but it is not simply an exhibition. It is a celebration of cultural diversity; a platform for artistic dialogue; and a catalyst for positive change in different art trends, it will be an unforgettable experience.”
