
The school year officially reopens in the Dominican Republic on 26 August 2024, with over 2.6 million students enrolled. The new school year begins on 1 August for the teachers.
The Ministry of Education announced the school calendar has been approved with 193 working days, or 41 school weeks for students and 44 weeks for teachers.
To prepare for the start of classes, the Ministry of Education is preparing to deliver more than one million kits of school uniforms and supplies for the students. The Ministry has also ordered some 250,000 units of furniture for public schools, 12 million textbooks and 15,000 kits with teacher materials.
