
The passing of Hurricane Beryl and a follow-up tropical wave brought relief to the sweltering heat that otherwise has come early this year.
Yet, as the storms moved away from the island, weather forecasters warn very warm days are here. Making matters worse, clouds of Saharan Dust are covering the Caribbean.
Likewise, the continuous stream of low-pressure waves coming off the coast of Africa is expected to continue throughout the summer.
For Monday and Tuesday, 8 and 9 July 2024, the first rain showers of a fast-passing tropical wave are also expected. The Center of Emergency Operations has 24 provinces under yellow alert for possible flooding. This includes Greater Santo Domingo and Barahona and Pedernales on the Caribbean coast.
