President Luis Abinader was in La Altagracia on Saturday, 6 July 2024 to inaugurate the Domingo Maíz road in Verón together with Tourism Minister David Collado. The reconstruction of the road, long demanded by the community, involved a 3.90 km stretch of the Domingo Maiz road, connecting Las Palmas northward to the intersection with the Boulevard Turistico del Este, the main access road in Punta Cana. The Ministry of Tourism allocated RD$135 million of the Tourism Infrastructure Fund (Ceiztur) to the construction.
Minister Collado highlighted the positive impact of the Domingo Maíz road project is a testament to President Abinader’s vision for strengthening Punta Cana, the country’s primary tourist destination.
