
At least seven people, including tourists, were injured this Monday morning in a crash of a car and bus at kilometer 26 of the Samana toll road, the Juan Pablo II highway, in the Chirino section, near Monte Plata.
The incident occurred when a black Honda CRV collided head-on with a tourist transport bus coming from Samaná towards Santo Domingo.
The injured were transferred to different health centers in the area to receive urgent medical attention.
According to preliminary reports, the injured include two children and several tourists who were traveling in the transport bus of the Otium company.
The driver of the CRV jeep, an Argentine citizen whose identity has not yet been revealed, was also injured.
It was reported that one of the vehicles involved was heading to Samana International Airport, while the other was heading to Santo Domingo.
Local authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
