Hepatology is the branch of medicine that looks at prevention, diagnosis and management of diseases that affect the liver, gall bladder, bile ducts and pancreas.
Liver problems are a growing issue around the world, with conditions like cirrhosis, fatty liver disease, and hepatitis affecting the lives of thousands of Dominicans every year.
Dr. Brigida Navarro, who directs the HOMS Center for Digestive Studies, announced that the unit is born to prevent and manage liver illnesses using top-notch technology. The unit will cater to local residents but also to the growing number of medical tourists who visit the country.
