Sci Fi film Aire, Just Breathe opens in Dominican theaters

“Aire, Just Breathe” opened at theaters in Santo Domingo on 15 August 2024. The unusual Sci-Fi film met with critics’ acclaim as it hit the international festivals in Cannes, Rotterdam, Cannes, Bifan, and Sitges. The film is categorized as a Romance and Sci-Fi film on the IMDB database. It is a futuristic voyage into a toxic world. The film is shown at Caribbean Cinemas theaters.

The stars are Sophie Gaëlle, Jalsen Santana, and renowned actress Paz Vega, who portrays Vida, an autonomous artificial intelligence system.

The film was produced by Línea Espiral, Menos es más Producciones, Lantica Studios, and Contrasentido.

“Aire: Just Breathe” is a Dominican-Spanish co-production filmed in 2021 in stunning Dominican locations and the renowned Lantica Studios.

Clocking in at 98 minutes, the film immerses us in a futuristic world, blending innovative visual effects with a captivating narrative, says the film description.

During the premiere, director Leticia Tonos expressed that “Aire” is a work born from her passion for science fiction that she is thrilled to share with the Dominican audience.

“With ‘Aire,’ I not only wanted to create a futuristic and entertaining film, but I also hope that the Caribbean can participate in the great conversation about the future of our species on this planet and reflect on vital issues like women’s control over their bodies, fertility, and power dynamics in relationships,” she said, as reported in El Dia.

The film so far has a 6.4 rating on IMDB.
