The Santo Domingo Chamber of Commerce opened the sixth edition of its multi-sectoral expo, HUB Cámara Santo Domingo 2024 at the grounds of the Hotel Embajador in Santo Domingo on Tuesday, 3 September 2024. Vice President Raquel Peña gave the opening words.
During her inaugural speech, Vice President Peña highlighted the government’s commitment to transforming and strengthening the economy, underscoring the policies that have made the Dominican Republic an attractive and safe destination for investment. She attributed these achievements to the joint efforts of the public and private sectors.
The event, which runs from 3 to 5 September 2024, seeks to strengthen its positioning as the Caribbean region’s premier business platform, serving as an ideal stage for fostering significant deals and strategic partnerships that bolster economic growth and expand the country’s commercial connections on a regional and international scale.
The event focuses on agribusiness, energy, technology, logistics, finance and services as growth areas for the country. Lucile Houellemont, president of the Santo Domingo Chamber of Commerce, emphasized the event’s critical role in the country’s economic development. “HUB Cámara Santo Domingo is the ideal platform for Dominican companies to expand their horizons, showcase their innovations, and establish strategic connections with key players in the domestic and international markets,” she stated.
Biviana Riveiro Disla, executive director of ProDominicana, co-organizer of the event, announced that this year’s business roundtables feature around 140 international buyers from 32 markets, including the United States, Spain, and China.
This year’s event focuses on the adoption of new technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, with the theme “The Power of Artificial Intelligence in Business.” Renowned AI expert Rana El Kaliouby will deliver a keynote address on how AI is revolutionizing the global business landscape.
The multi-day event offers a packed agenda of conferences, business roundtables, exhibitions, and networking opportunities. Organizers anticipate that this edition will set new standards in promoting trade and business cooperation.
