President checks on what’s happening in Miches

President Luis Abinader was in Miches, on the northern stretch of the East Coast beach strip, to oversee the advances in several new hotels in the area. Miches is about 120 km from the Punta Cana International Airport. It is being developed as the newest beach destination.

President Abinader for the start of construction of the La Quinta Miches hotel that is now offering 79 rooms and versatile meeting areas, catering to both families and long-stay visitors.

La Quinta Miches marks the completion of the initial phase of the La Quinta hotel chain nationwide. Forthcoming will be the La Quinta Puerto Plata and La Quinta San Francisco de Macorís next year. This hotel model is planned to expand to other provinces nationwide, with a total of 22 similar projects, according to Edward de Valle, CEO of the Grupo de Valle.

When in Miches for the La Quinta event, Minister of Tourism David Collado spoke of how 2,200 hotel rooms are under construction in the Miches destination, with 1,000 slated to open this December 2024.

Collado said that 4,000 jobs are being created to revitalize the local economy. He said these will contribute RD$1.23 billion to the DR’s Gross Domestic Product in the medium term. The resorts are expected to generate approximately US$255 million in annual taxes and attract an additional 230,000 tourists a year.

Collado spoke of other projects that are underway, such as the Downtown 7Palms Miches, developed by Grupo 7Palms, and the innovative airplane hotel VolaVille, with an approximate investment of US$100 million.

Director of Port Authority Jean Luis Rodriguez joined the President and the Minister of Tourism in Miches and announced the inauguration of Miches’s new La Yeguada tourism and fishing port dock.

The Presidency highlighted the improvements to the Liceo Leovigildo Mauricio Linares with RD$127 million in El Cedro, Miches. The high school has capacity for 385 students.
