DR defeats Nicaragua to advance in AmeriCup

Team Canada led most of the game and defeated Team Dominican Republic in the second window of the AmeriCup basketball qualifier, played this time in Saskatoon, Canada. Canada defeated the DR 88-71 in Group C of the 2025 AmeriCup Qualifiers.

FIBA reports that midway through the first quarter the Dominican team took a 16-15 lead, but Canada then took off with a 10-0 run to retake control of the game, a lead they never again surrendered to the Caribbean team.

Canada hosted Mexico (2-2) on Sunday, 24 November and maintained its undefeated lead 4-0 in Group C. The DR has already lost to Mexico 80-73. The DR defeated Nicaragua 83-79 on Sunday. Nicaragua gets a slot in the group because it will host the AmeriCup in 2025.
