A dedicated group of Dominican chefs rose to the challenge of preparing the world’s largest majarete, the corn pudding Dominican style. The majarete desert weighed a staggering 858.95 kilograms. It took around eight hours of preparation and six hours of cooking. The team was led by Chef Solangel Velázquez and a team of 19 culinary experts. Despite requiring only 200 kilograms of corn as per the guidelines, the team exceeded expectations with their generous portions.
The Guinness World Record for the World’s Largest Majarete was officially set on 2 November 2024 during the Festur 2024 event at the Hatillo Dam in Cotuí. The event was organized by the Sánchez Ramírez Ecotourism Council.
After a rigorous evaluation process, Guinness World Records officially recognized the achievement, notifying Eligió Reyes, CEO of Sma Group and the Sánchez Ramírez Ecotourism Council, in the early hours of 21 November 2024.
