
President Luis Abinader has appointed Celinés Toribio as the new Ambassador and Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs for Dominican Communities Abroad.
The Presidency reports that Toribio is an accomplished actress, television personality, producer, and cultural manager, brings a wealth of experience in media and a strong connection to the Dominican community abroad. Throughout her career, she has championed projects that highlight Dominican identity and talent, establishing herself as a prominent advocate for the nation’s culture on a global scale.
A graduate of Lehman College of the City University of New York (CUNY) with a degree in Mass Communication and Theater, Toribio has been recognized for her leadership in initiatives supporting the Dominican diaspora. The Presidency highlights that her expertise in media, film, and event management positions her as a key figure in strengthening ties between Dominicans living abroad and their homeland.
In addition to her ambassadorial duties, Toribio will also lead the Index (Institute for Dominicans and Dominicans Abroad). In this role, she will focus on the integration and development of the Dominican diaspora, promoting opportunities for Dominicans abroad, and fostering stronger cultural and economic links with the Dominican Republic.
