Government offices to open in congested residential sectors

What the heck are top government officials thinking when they announce relocating their offices to the already very congested Polígono Central?

During the La Semanal press conference, a journalist asked President Luis Abinader about the situation and his answer was that the government would in no way contribute to more chaos.

Yet, the reality is that several government offices are relocating to the Poligono Central and choosing buildings without adequate parking for their employees or visitors. N Digital reports this will worsen the traffic situation in the capital city.

N Digital reports that the Passport Office is one example. It has plans to relocate to a building with only 95 parking spots, which is not enough for all the people who visit them each day and will clearly impact the neighborhood.

Indotel is another that has announced it is moving to a heavily congested area without providing parking for employees or visitors.

Experts say that this lack of planning shows that the government is not thinking about how these moves will affect the capital city.

The Intrant, which is in charge of traffic in the Dominican Republic, says that all government offices need to think about how their moves will affect traffic in the area. They need to make sure there is enough parking and that people can get to their offices easily. Someone is not listening.
