The City University of New York’s Dominican Studies Institute is promoting its 2025 Summer Internship Program. The deadline to apply is 21 March 2025.
The studies will be fully in-person from 2 June to 24 July 2025 at the City College of New York at 160 Convent Avenue, New York, New York.
The CUNY DSI’s Summer Research Internship Program provides undergraduate and graduate students with meaningful research experience in the field of Dominican Studies. Whether training in the humanities, social sciences, or STEM, selected participants will have the opportunity to work collaboratively and under the guidance of CUNY DSI’s one-of-a-kind multidisciplinary Research Unit.
The students will also have access to the Dominican Library, the premier repository of bibliographic resources documenting the Dominican experience in the United States, and the Dominican Archives, the first and only archive of its kind outside of the Dominican Republic, housing over 76 unique and specialized collections.
The Institute also offers the opportunity to connect with an impressive cadre of affiliated university faculty from around the country, and abroad, who may provide mentorship to program participants as they develop research projects.
While at CUNY DSI, summer interns immerse themselves in foundational Dominican Studies texts, develop an independent research agenda, and contribute to a comprehensive research project currently underway at the Institute. Throughout the summer, the students receive guidance and feedback from an array of Dominican/Latino Studies researchers trained in a wide range of fields, including but not limited to sociology, economics, political science, anthropology, philosophy, statistics, and history.
The Dominican Studies Institute has also called for applications for a fellowship program for Dominican scholars in the field of humanity and humanistic social sciences. The deadline to apply is 15 March 2025.
The CUNY Dominican Studies Institute (CUNY DSI), invites potential applicants to apply for the 2025-2026 scholarship program for people of Dominican origin who face challenges that limit the expression of their ideas or hinder the development of their work in public spaces. CUNY DSI has received funds from the Mellon Foundation to support these.
