Founder of Fundacion Fenix passes away

Giralda Busto de Imbert passed away on 9 March 2025. She is credited for founding the Fundacion Fenix to bring relief to family suffering from addiction issues

The Fundación Fenix is a leading local private non-profit dedicated to helping families revert and survive addiction in the family.

Busto de Imbert is the second wife of national hero General Antonio Imbert Barrera, credited as one of the two survivors of the successful attempt to assassinate dictator Rafael Leonidas Trujillo in 1961. Busto married Imbert. He had widowed when his wife Guarina Tesson and daughter Leslie died in an airplane crash at take off from Puerto Caucedo in 1970. Busto acted as a beloved stepmother for Imbert’s sons Antonio Segundo and Oscar Jose.

Dealing with family issues, Busto would found the Fundación Fenix with other committed friends in 1994. The non-profit organization is recognized for effectively backing families as they deal with issues of addiction in alcoholics, drugs, computer gaming, and others.
