DR has many new ambassadors

The Ministry of Foreign Relations (Mirex) announced on Friday, 2 May 2025 the appointment of new ambassadors to key posts around the world. The moves are outlined in Decree 239-25. Others were announced in previous decrees.

The appointments are:
Angie Shakira Martínez Tejera, previously ambassador to Jamaica, will now serve as the Dominican Republic’s ambassador to the Republic of South Korea. She replaces Federico Cuello who will be working at the Ministry of Foreign Relations in Santo Domingo.

Manuel Antonio Durán Pilarte has been tapped as the new ambassador to Jamaica.

Joan Margarita Cedano Garda de Madera will lead the Dominican mission to the European Union.

Erika Ylonca Álvarez Rodríguez will serve concurrently as ambassador to the Republic of Rwanda, based in South Africa.

Lourdes Margarita Franco-Zimmermann will be ambassador concurrent to the Republic of Latvia, based in Sweden.

Ángela Marianna Vigliotta Mella, the Dominican ambassador to Austria, will also represent the country in the Republic of Serbia. She is based in Austria.

María Isabel Castillo Báez, formerly ambassador to Mexico, is taking on new responsibilities as the Dominican ambassador to the United States government.

Juan Bolívar Díaz Santana is named ambassador to Mexico.

Tony Raful Tejada is named ambassador in Spain.

Rafael Antonio Lantigua Ciriaco is named ambassador in Italy.
