Karl Anthony Towns allots his NBA Cup cash prize to make the Tamboril basketball center a reality for Dominican youth

Karl Anthony Towns announces that he will donate his NBA Cup earnings to build a state-of-the-art basketball complex in Tamboril, Santiago. The donation will expand the sports facility of Go Ministries in t he central province. Towns’ mother, the late Jacqueline Cruz, was from Santiago.

He made the remarks during the post-NBA Cup win press conference when asked what he would do with the US$530,000 cash award. He said the resources would help Dominican kids to chase their dreams.

GO Ministries already has a major sports center in Tamboril, built by JMF Arquitectos, SRL, the firm of Architect Jose Mella. Mella has designed and built about half of the MLB baseball academies in the Dominican Republic.

The New York Knicks won the third NBA Cup, the early season elimination round that gives teams early on exposure to playoff pressures. The others to win are the Milwaukee Bucks and the Los Angeles Lakers. The NBA championship ends in June 2026.
