Wasteful spending and poor accounting practices mark financials submitted by leading political parties

Participación Ciudadana, the civic watchdog organization, reports that the financial reports submitted to the Central Electoral Board (JCE) by the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), the Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRD) and the Social Christian Revolutionary Party (PRSC) reveal that around RD$1 billion of taxpayer money was wasted and misspent. The parties received 80% of the political financing granted by the JCE to the political parties in 2018. The review of the spending reveals bad accounting practices to distract from the wasteful spending.
