The Central Electoral Board (JCE) approved the physical counting of 20% of the presidential vote in the 6 October 2019 primaries of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) and the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM). 10% physical vote count is approved for the congressional and municipal vote levels. The primaries are held to choose the presidential, congressional and municipal candidates for the two largest political parties.
Former President Leonel Fernández, of the PLD, had asked for a parallel vote count of 100% of the vote in the presidential election, 50% in the congressional and 25% in the municipal. The Central Electoral Board (JCE) is implementing an automated voting system using an in-house-made software.
The JCE had initially announced a physical auditing of 10% all the voting levels.
