The director of the Road Protection and Assistance Program implemented by the Military and Police Commission (Comipol), Lieutenant Colonel Douglas Borrell said that the operation “A Pact for Life, Safe Christmas 2019” is being extended until 13 January 2020.
In addition to peak days around Christmas Day and New Year’s, in the Dominican Republic, Three Kings Day (6 January) is also an important holiday.
The director of Compol noted that there are nine road safety corridors in Greater Santo Domingo and in Santiago. Patrols have been reinforced on all the nation’s highways. He called on the population to drive safely and avoid the use of cell phones while driving. “We will be working 24/7, as is customary in these operations,” he said.
