Ministry of Defense will use ETED networks for border security cameras

The Ministry of Defense will use the optic fiber network of the government-owned Dominican Electric Transmission Corporation (ETED) and its Optical Fiber Telecommunications Business Unit (UNTFO) for the operation of security cameras, including the more than 400 used in the border area. Both entities signed a two-year renewable agreement.

Defense Minister Lieutenant General Rubén Darío Paulino said the agreement is of vital importance for the development of border surveillance. Gorki Encarnación, the director of UNTFO, said the use of technology at the border will allow constant monitoring to prevent and detect illicit trafficking in general.
