The fact that the PRD’s candidate, José Francisco Peña Gómez, has not accepted a television station’s invitation for a presidential candidates’ debate has been highlighted by Jacinto Peynado. Dr Peña Gómez has suggested that the “technicians” from the parties engage in such a debate before the candidates themselves. Jacinto Peynado says that Dr Peña Gómez has rejected the debate proposal because “he does not feel prepared for a debate or he considers that we are not of his stature to speak about the problems of the Dominican Republic.”
