The official election candidates

The JCE rejected the presidential and vice presidential candidatures of the minority party, the Partido Renacentista Nacional (PRN), but accepted all the others from the Partido Reformista Social Cristiano (PRSC), the Partido Revolucionario Dominicano (PRD), the Partido de la Liberación Dominicana (PLD), the Partido del Pueblo Dominicano (PPD), the Movimiento de Conciliación Nacional (MCN) and the Alianza Social Demócrata (ASD).

The electoral court authorized the pairs made up of José Francisco Peña Gómez and Fernando Alvarez Bogaert for the PRD; Jacinto Peynado and Maribel Gassó for the PRSC, and Leonel Fernández and Jaime David Fernández Mirabal for the PLD.

Rafael Alburquerque and Dalia Féliz were authorized to run for the PPD; Puro Pichardo and Franklin Domínguez for the MCN and José Rafael Abinader and Luís Minier Alíes for the ASD.

The PRD heads the so-called Acuerdo de Santo Domingo, whose allies are the Partido Quisqueyano Demócrata (PQD), Partido de los Trabajadores Dominicanos (PTD), Partido Democrático Institucional (PDI), Partido Popular Cristiano (PPC), Partido Nacional de Veteranos y Civiles (PNVC), Unidad Democrática (UD) and the Bloque Institucional Socialdemócrata (BIS).

The PLD will be going alone to the election. The PRSC has allied with the Partido Liberal de la República Dominicana and the Partido Demócrata Popular.
