The political parties agreed to take a break from normal political activities during the Easter weekend which results in thousands of Dominicans going to the beaches, river and mountain vacation areas. The break was requested by the Catholic Church. The parties, nevertheless, remained active with their members providing medical assistance and distributing information to those visiting the vacation areas.
The PRSC candidate, Jacinto Peynado, traveled to the United States to meet his mother who is convalescing after a fall. He returned on Easter Sunday.
Leonel Fernández of the PLD said he took the opportunity to catch up on his reading. His team has prepared to distribute rubbish bags, refuse cans and accident prevention material in the holiday areas.
PRD candidate José Francisco Peña Gómez spent the long weekend at his vacation home in Cambita, San Cristóbal. He met with a selected group of guests and discussed his standing in the political race.
